Are you passionate about supporting people who face addiction? If so, Clark's Addiction Counselor Education Program can help you leverage your passion into a fulfilling career. Our program will give you both the theories and practical methods needed to effectively coordinate clinical care, housing, and mental health services for people who are working to reclaim their lives from addiction. You'll gain skills and abilities needed to compassionately treat clients in both individual and group counseling settings and have opportunities to apply what you're learning in the classroom in real-world addiction treatment agencies. - Communicate effectively, accurately, and professionally, using verbal, non-verbal, and written language with diverse populations of clients, patients, colleagues, the public, and other healthcare providers.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors when working with clients, patients, other professionals, and the public.
- Successfully complete Washington State Chemical Dependency Professional exam.
- Treat substance abuse clients in multiple settings including individual and group counseling situations.
- Understand and participate in addiction placement, continuing care, and discharge of patients and clients with addictions.
